Based on the helm found at Gjermundbu, Norway, this Viking helm will provide the reenactor with authentic head protection. Crafted from 14 gauge steel with a full leather suspension and chin strap. Comes with chainmail aventail for neck protection. Stand not included.
Medium: 25" inside circumference.
Large: 26" inside circumference.
The original helmet is from the later 9th century and was found by accident in 1943 at the Gjermundbu farm in Ringerike, Norway. It was found in nine fragments and has since been restored. It is an incredibly important find because it is the only known Viking Age helmet with enough remains left that it could be reconstructed. It is made from iron, and the main form is constructed of four plates. Other interesting features are the spectacle face guard and spike on the top. Currently it is on display at the University of Oslo.

Feels great.
I was a little apprehensive about the purchase at first because my head is pretty small, but the helmet works great. The inside of the helmet is adjustable to sit on your head at a good length. The chin strap has more than enough holes to fit snugly. It was still a little loose on me but I remedied that by just wearing a skull cap underneath the helmet. Great purchase.

I am soooo pleased with this helmet. I purchased the large and it is very comfortable to wear. Really finished off my outfit.
