Hammered out of 14 gauge steel. Outside rim diameter about 7 1/2 inches and inside diameter about 6 inches. Dome is about 1.75 inches tall. Weighs about 1.25lbs.

Great shieldboss for live-steel fighting
I have bought this shield boss before for my fighting shield and it is great for live steel for quite a few reasons. For one it is thick enough and made of great steel to deal with any blow from an axe, sword or seax. The boss is big enough for a leather gloved hand to fit into it. While it is a little too big to be 100% accurate for authenticity reasons, as I have said it helps accommodate my hand with a leather glove on it.
