Our most historical Viking Shield. Made from 1/4" poplar planks with a canvas facing and natural linen backing. Face is painted with an acrylic paint made to look like milk paint. Shield boss is hand hammered from 16ga steel and has a linen boss pad. Rim is brown leather with copper rivets and clips to secure it. Handle is made from poplar and treated with boiled linseed oil. Grip is stitched on brown leather. Boss and handle are riveted on with steel rivets. Leather carry strap is removable and features a Viking buckle and strap end. Shield is 28" in diameter and weighs about 5.25lbs without the shoulder strap.

Shield Love
This shield is fantastic. It is highly detailed yet looks hand crafted. It is lightweight and strong. The strap and buckle are unexpectedly beautiful. You can see that it is made of planks (as it should be) and laminated with fabric. I am incredibly happy with this purchase - it is worth every penny and I can't wait until the fall Renaissance season as this will be the centerpiece of my outfit.
